A True Friend
by Kate Brink
A True Friend is someone who
cares for you for who your are,
and not what they want you to be,
A True Friend is someone who
is always there for you,
and doesn't judge,
A True Friend is some one who
doesn't try to change you,
and doesn't change themselves
A True Friend is someone who
you can talk to,
A True Friend is someone who
will wait their turn,
A True Friend

Bushy
If I could see my Mom today,
Here is what
I'd say:
I love you more than ever,
And miss you more each day,
I'd like to knock upon your door,
And invite you out to play.
I'm really living what you told me
to
be as strong as you can be,
Treat others with simple honesty,
And respect their dignity."
I'd take you on a joy-filled ride
To places
you've never been,
And love each conversation,
When we would remember when.
I'd hug you for the many times,
That your love was there for me,
And
I'd tell you the joy I always felt,
Just to be in your company.
I would prepare you a hearty dinner,
Where
you'd be my special guest,
And I'd serve you chocolate cream pie,
The dessert that you loved best.
We then could do the dishes,
And laugh about many things,
Or skip about and act like kids,
And see what that feeling brings.
I'd let you know the pride I feel,
Not only because
you're my Mother,
But also because of your strong belief,
In healing and helping another.
But above all, My Dear Mother,
This to you I do confess,
As long as I live upon this earth,
I will love you more not less.

Close by the door
He paused to stand,
As he took the class ring
from her hand.
All who were watching
Could not speak
As a silent tear
Ran down his cheek.
And in his mind,
The memories ran
Of the times they laughed
In the sun and sand.
Now her eyes
Were closed and cold
Never again.
Would he have her to hold
He touched her face,
And started to cry.
Put on his class ring,
And said good-bye.
All watched in silence
As he bent very near,
And whispered "I love you"
Into her ear.
The doors opened,
And the wind began to blow
As they carried her casket
Out into the snow.

Friendship
Friendship needs no studied phrases,
Polished face, or winning wiles;
Friendship deals no lavish praises,
Friendship dons no surface smiles.
Friendship follows Nature’s diction,
Shuns the blandishments of Art,
Boldly severs truth from fiction,
Speaks the language of the heart.
Friendship favors no condition,
Scorns a narrow-minded creed,
Lovingly fulfills its mission,
Be it word or be it deed.
Friendship cheers the faint and weary,
Makes the timid spirit brave,
Warns the erring, lights the dreary,
Smoothes the passage to the grave.
Friendship--pure, unselfish friendship,
All through life’s allotted span,
Nurtures, strengthens, widens, lengthens,
Man’s relationship with man.

HURT AND PAIN
by Shea Hansen
will this pain
that has swallowed me whole
ever lessen,
ever let go?
the swelling in my throat
the salt of my tears
the shaking of my lonely body
will it stop?
will it slow?
the blur of my vision
the studder of my voice
will this pain ever lessen?
will this pain ever slow?
will it ever let go?

IF I COULD
by Shea Hansen
to feel your heart, taste your lips, see you smile, hear you laugh, feel
your breath against me, to hold you, be near you, smell you. if I could
touch you, see your face, touch you all over, hear your voice, make you
happy, if you would hold me close, make me smile, happy. if you could make
laugh, just once more, one more time, one more hour, 2 more minutes, a few
more seconds......of life.

If I Could Catch a Rainbow
Author Unknown
If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue
If I could build a mountain
You call your very own
A place to find serenity
A place to be alone
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea
But all these things I'm finding
Are Impossible for me
I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be what I know best
A friend that's always there *~*

My Love...
My love is my man
the man I share with
The guy I faint for
The only one who I cry for.
Because of you, I am rich
Because of you I am famous
Because of you I am who I am
Without fear I show you my true self
with any obstacles I give you my heart
without worries or shame I give my self to you.
You have taught me the way of life
the paradise inside my heart
the true meaning of love.
With you I could go to the end of the world.
Loving is believing
Trust is sharing
happiness is the light
My heart is your salvation
Your soul is my hero.
The only true man I love is here
to stay and to grow
to share and to hold
to love and to hug
I the only woman for this soul
am content and proud of the treasure it has found.

My Mothers Hugs
You held me tight on that first day
Close to your heart in such a special way.
Your arms around holding me close and oh so snug
An expression of your love, my first mothers hug.
That was just the beginning, just the start
Of all the great hugs that came straight from your heart.
The family grew as sisters and a brother came
You gave them your love and hugs, they got the same.
It did not matter how much older or stronger
You'd just grab us and hug us a lot longer.
Family and friends would get such a lift
These hugs you gave us were your special gift.
When God called you on that day
We could not stop it as hard as we prayed.
We gave in to our deep sorrow
What about your love and hugs come tomorrow?
We had so much to say so much to tell
But you had taught us oh so well.
We could not let you go to Him all alone
So we gave you our love and hugs to carry you home.
That is not the end but just the start
Even though I feel we are so far apart.
I know you are now being held oh so snug
Because it is Jesus' turn to get one of my mothers hugs.

My Psalm
Fill my heart with kindness Lord,
Let it overflow with cheer,
Help me eliminate moments in life,
Where there may be some fear.
Cause me to perform many simple deeds,
And let each aftermath be profound,
So the Light of your Eternal Love,
In lost souls can be found.
Teach me how to pray Dear Lord,
And hear what I might say.
Allow me to honor and glorify You,
In a thankful yet humble way.
Inspire me to appreciate
Each flower, plant or tree,
Whole beauty is another lesson in
True Peace and Tranquility.
Guide me as I tread upon,
Each pathway strewn with love,
Let my soul illuminate blessings
Which I receive from You above.
When my life on earth is over,
Let me bow before Thy throne,
And judge me for each act of love,
That I have truly shown.

Old Glory
by Jan Orcutt
There was an old flag that laid in a drawer
Folded with sides of three.
It represented the wars of old,
Not what was yet to be.
A day occurred with tears untold
That brought out that old flag.
A dear old gent unfolded it
with memories and pride.
That old man thought about the past
And those who'd gone before.
He thought of those who'd lived and died
And knew that there'd be more.
Each day he got up early
Most often before dawn.
So he could fly OLD GLORY
In the light of the morning sun.
The flag was old and tattered
The stars and stripes were brown.
But each day' he'd fly it proudly
In that little country town.
The day's went by, the weeks did too.
He flew his flag each day.
And as the time went slowly on
The flag began to change.
In the light of daybreak
And the sun that shone all day,
The STARS and STRIPES grew brighter
As if to pave the way.
You see its not the cloth alone
That makes a flag so true,
But the love of the people behind it
That makes it fly anew.
There are many across this nation
Who fly their flags today.
Some new and bright and shiny
And some old ones just the same.
Its not the age that makes it true
The colors are still there.
But the hearts of our great nation
Reaching out from everywhere.
What have we learned?
The message is clear, that we are not alone.
This act is repeated daily
In our hearts, our minds, our homes.
Forget not those we love,
Or things that we hold dear
Or that old flag we cherish,
When we see it anywhere.
